For Simmel, “The use of money enables actors to make quick calculations of respective values.” (p. 248)  For your essay on Simmel, recount a situation in which you or another person made a quick calculation of value and later re-assessed its value.  What was the stated price of the object of interest?  Was there negotiation of the price?  Was the use value equal to or above the exchange value?
