Research Question and Hypothesis Paper

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate your ability to frame a research question by proposing a relationship between two concepts, and hypothesizing a relationship. You will identify a research question that represents a gap in the peer-reviewed social welfare literature. This paper assignment must be linked to your final literature review paper. The research question you propose in this assignment will be answered by choosing two evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and comparing their effectiveness in the treatment of one problem.

Skills: The purpose of this assignment is to help you practice the following skills that are essential to your success in this course, for the overall development of your research proposal, and when thinking about the connection between two, potentially explanatory factors, that may influence a clients problem or the maintenance of the problem. These skills include

composing a research question,
describing a relationship between two concepts,
hypothesizing and predicting a relationship between two variables,
identify a research question that represents a gap in the literature, and
take responsibility for the direction of your learning by choosing a topic area that is interesting to you.

The final product will consist of:

A cover sheet in APA format
A 1-page paper comprised of lines with 2 subheadings:
A research question asking about the relationship between two variables that is phrased as a question AND
A hypothesis indicating the predicted manner of the relationship and direction of the relationship between two variables.
Your research question should be structured as follows:

Two independent variables (two evidence-based treatment methods), and one dependent variable (the presenting problem).
