Investigate the manufacturing and supply line for some item of clothing or food.  For clothing, go from raw materials to finished retail product. For example, where does a particular mens dress shirt at a retail store or sold online store come from?  What materials is it made from?  How were they processed?  How did they go from cloth to clothing?  Who did the work from raw fibers to cloth, from cloth to clothing, to packaging and sales. How many different companies were involved?
