Irish Healthcare System

In 2018, a report of the European Commission on European Healthcare systems categorised Ireland as a National Healthcare System. In disagreement with this classification, scholars, such as Dukelow and Considine (2017) and Thomas et al. (2020) described Ireland as a de facto mixed or duplicate system. Compare and contrast these two perspectives and evaluate to which extent one provides a more accurate picture of the Irish health care system than the other.

Please use the two below readings only:

Dukelow, F., & Considine, M. (2017). Irish social policy: A critical introduction. Chapter 8 – Health Policy. Dublin: Policy Press.

Thomas, S., S., Barry, B., Johnston, R., Siersbaek and S. Burke (2020). Embracing and Disentangling from Private Finance: The Irish System. In Flood, C. and S. Thomas (eds.) Is Two-Tier Health Care the Future?. University of Ottawa Press.

Please include clear introductory and concluding paragraphs; ensure main paragraphs give balanced attention to all important aspects of the answer. Please include a good engagement with the question set, with consistently good evidence of understanding of the subject matter through some use of theories/analytical approaches, well supported by evidence/examples. Clearly, present argument that answers the question; acknowledge weaknesses and strengths of the argument; acknowledge some remaining ambiguities and nuances. Please try not to exceed 1000 words
