The final project will be an opportunity for you to do on your own what we have been doing together all semester long: choose a case study and analyze it using the tools of the class, showing the connections between religion and society/culture. That means the case study should be something that allows you to connect the dots between religion and society/culture. To that end, the case study should be classifiable as one of the following:
(a) A religious practice (ritual, tradition, etc.), event, or belief that either influences or is influenced by broader social or cultural factors
(b) A social, cultural, or political practice, event, or idea that either influences or is influenced by religion in some way
In short, the goal is to select something that allows you to draw the lines connecting the dots between religion and society/culture so its clear how they influence each other.
