This IS, in fact, EXACTLY why we need higher education in democracies: so that you are well informed, critical thinkers, capable of engaging with fellow citizens regarding important topics. What would you support doing? What seems like a good idea? Putnam gives a bunch of suggestions in the final chapter, but they are broad.
